Pears fall into two major categories; European and Asian. European types have the familiar pear shape with soft flesh and skin colors from red to yellow. Those most often seen in U.S. markets are summer Bartlett and winter d'Anjou, Bosc and Comice varieties. Asian types are round with green-yellow or russet skin and crunchy flesh. The most popular are the green-yellow skinned Twentieth Century, Shinseiki and Kikusui.
From the orchards of Medford, Oregon, Argentina, Chile and New Zealand we bring you the very finest eating pears.
