Born into a family that cultivated grapes in the town of Ragusa, Sicily, Giuseppe "Papa Joe" Giumarra came to the United States with his father in the early 1900's with the dream of a new life, a dream that populated acres and acres of the finest grapes.

After many years of dedicated searching, Papa Joe finally settled in Los Angeles, California where he began buying produce in Orange County and selling it from a small stall in the wholesale market on 7th Street.

It was here that the two generations of dreaming finally took root. For even Papa Joe couldn't imagine that from his tiny produce stand in downtown Los Angeles, his dream would grow into an international agribusiness empire. The Giumarra Companies works with growers on three continents, including locations in Chile, Mexico, Asia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and China.

But even as our company continues to grow well into the 21st century, the founding principles of family, excellence, and reliability continue to guide our prosperity.
