Born into a family that cultivated grapes in the town of Ragusa, Sicily, Giuseppe "Papa Joe" Giumarra came to the United States with his father in the early 1900's with the dream of a new life, a dream that populated acres and acres of the finest grapes in the world.

After many years of dedicated searching, Papa Joe finally settled in Los Angeles, Calif., where he began buying produce in Orange County and selling it from a small stall in the wholesale market on 7th Street.

It was here that his two generations of dreaming finally took root. Even Papa Joe couldn't imagine that from his tiny produce stand in downtown Los Angeles, his dream would grow into an international agribusiness empire. The Giumarra Companies works with growers worldwide, including locations in Chile, Mexico, Asia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
